That's why I love Michael Schenker!

Thursday, May 28, 2009

Although I kinda like the new album that they have out (sans Michael Schenker) and they have a show scheduled at The Rex in Pittsburgh this October, I have no interest in attending. Why? The reasons are many...

Phil Mogg creeps me out. It would seem that he's trying to look like Michael.

I'd be sorely tempted to scream at the top of my lungs, "Where the hell is Michael Schenker? I want Michael!"

But mostly I fear that I'd get drunk and somehow wake up with Phil.
Ewwww! Scary.

One of the very few decent photos my phone has managed to take. I can't wait to get a new one...

Must remember never to buy a phone because it's cute.

The Review

This album can be summed up in a few short words.
It is Gary Barden's lame attempt at putting lyrics to eleven of the tracks from Thank You 4....
These songs were never meant to have vocals and were best left alone. It would have been much better to write something new than to murder the simplistic beauty of these tracks.
To make matters worse, Gary just doesn't have a voice for an acoustic album. He sounds like a croaking toad without a screaming guitar to back him up.

Fortunately, the album's final track was saved from Gary's uninspired lyrics and horrid vocals. All of the five points that I gave to this go to Michael for the instrumentation, which remains beautiful in spite of it all.

My advice to you is to not buy this one. It just isn't worth the bucks.

Save An Alien!

This is a poor alien who has lost his planet. He is adrift in space and needs your help! He is also the brother of the alien that I saved...

It doesn't take much to keep him happy.
Please save him. My little Schenkerling will be so happy to see her brother again!

Music and Travel

What music format do you take when you roadtrip and why? (CD, mp3 etc)
MP3 all the way. I'm not going anywhere without my iPod(s). If I'm going to be gone for long, my computer goes as well.
~hugs pretty red Dell Studio laptop~

Do you ever make special mixes or playlists just for your trip?
Certainly! It's fun to try to come up with an interesting mix to keep everyone amused on a long ride.

Have you ever associated a certain album or band with a trip you made?
Since quite a few of the road trips I've been on were for the express purpose of seeing a particular band in concert, yes, of course!

Manic Monday

Which household chore do you dislike the most?
Hmmmmmm... I do believe that I hate them all equally!

What's the best museum you've ever visited?
The Prada in Madrid, Spain. So much beautiful artwork there. I wish I could go back!

It's Star Wars Day today. The meme mistress has never seen any of the Star Wars movies. What "common" movies haven't you seen?
I've never seen any of the Harry Potter movies...

Top 5 On Friday

A musical meme from The Music Memoirs.

Top 5 artists you might not have listened to if not for the internet (tell us how you discovered them)

1. Axel Rudi Pell
- I was inroduced to his music by an internet friend who lives in Berlin

2. The Dead Freddies - The guitarist of this Berlin band was once a friend of the above mentioned friend of mine.

3. Doro - This lady's music was introduced to me by another internet friend of mine who hails from Tasmania!

4. Chris Dreschner - I bet you can guess who introduced me to the music of this "cowboy from Berlin."

5. Domain - Some people have no qualms about shameless self promotion via the internet. I won't mention any names, since he has visited here at least once, but I'm sure you can figure out who he is!
