Tuesday Tunes

A musical meme from The Music Memoirs

This week is word associations. The drill, name the first song, artist, album, instrument or other musical thing that comes to mind when you see these words.

Cat: Cat Scratch Fever (song by Ted Nugent)

Fish: Three Fish Dancing (song by Michael Schenker)

Dog: Dogs Of War (song/album by Saxon)

Comical: "Weird Al" Yankovic (the funniest artist EVER!)

Pretentious: The Moody Blues (The band is not pretentious, just the majority of the fans are)

Intelligent: "If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there." (very intelligent lyrics from George Harrison's Any Road)

Park: Saturday In The Park (song by Chicago)

Make-up: "My smile is my make-up I wear since my break-up with you." (lyrics from Smokey Robinson's Tracks Of My Tears)

Box: Eye Of The Tiger (song by Survivor, theme from Rocky a movie about boxing)

Toy: Rag Doll (song by Aerosmith)

This Is No Surprise

You Would Make a Horrible 1930's Wife

You are way too non conformist, independent, and sassy to be an ideal retro wife.
You may be so wild that you aren't even considering marriage!
Good thing we don't live in the 1930s anymore!

Don't Lie To Me

You Can Definitely Spot a Liar

Maybe you have good instincts. Or maybe you just have a lot of experience with liars.
Either way, it's pretty hard for someone to pull a fast one on you. You're like a human lie detector.

Sleep With The Angels, Little Itchy

She wandered into our lives about ten years ago, a cute little stray who made her way into the home of my Mom, Dad, and sister. She was not really my cat, but I loved her ooodles.

A few months ago, she was diagnosed with cancer. Surgery would have been very expensive, and if the vet found spreading, he would have put her down. None of us could bear the thought of that, so she was brought home to live out the remainder of her days in peace. Most of those days were good. Itchy was quite the fighter.

In the last week or so she took a turn for the worse. We knew that her days were extremely numbered. At about 8 PM tonight she let out a loud cry. I scooped her into my arms and rocked her gently. She died peacefully in my arms with the entire family who she loved so much gathered around.

We know that you loved us, Itchy, and you fought long and hard to stay with us. We will never forget you and your valiant kitty spirit!

Brought to you by The Music Memoirs.

10 songs that sum up your weekend...or were on your weekend playlist...and one picture that relates back.

You know the routine, I put the WinAmp on shuffle and see what madness ensues!

1. She's Tight - Cheap Trick
2. I Am - Dio
3. F.I.N.E. - Aerosmith
4. Possession - Bad English
5. Got To Get Better In A Little While - Derek & The Dominoes

7. Wasted Time - Eagles
8. Good To Go - Bernie Barlow

And now for the picture...

I Don't Wanna Be Committed!

You Are Afraid of Commitment

So maybe you're not exactly afraid of commitment, but you're not eager to commit to anyone.
You enjoy being single and free. And to be honest, serious relationships sort of freak you out.

Maybe you've been recently burned and you need time to trust someone again.
But maybe you have problems getting close to anyone, which is a somewhat serious problem.

The Gift

(Not So Wordless Wednesday)

I found this in one of the mailboxes on my route today...

It's a bottle of water with a special hand drawn label. Written on the back were the words, "For the maillady. Have a nice day!"

That's so sweet. I nearly cried!

Tuesday Tunes

A musical meme from The Music Memoirs

What's the most you've ever paid for a CD? What CD was it?
I think that the most I've paid for a single disc was $38. That Would be my copy of Perfect Timing by McAuley-Schenker Group. It's a Japanese import with bonus tracks, but the cover art alone was worth the price that I paid!

Do you own any CDs that aren't domestic?
See the answer to the previous question. Well, duh...
Yes! Many of them, mostly from Germany and Japan. I also have a few from The Netherlands. My copy of Kelly Keeling's Giving Sight To The Eye had to be imported from Russia!

How do you feel about European discs and Japanese discs getting bonus tracks and special packaging when the US does not?
Two words...
IT SUCKS!
(at least if you're an American)

Are there any bands/artists you go out of your way to purchase any release for?
Michael Schenker, of course!
Also the Scorpions.
Gotta be nice to both brothers.

Manic Monday

What do you do when you are feeling very sad or depressed?
Sometimes I just cry it out, other times I try to cheer myself up with music or countless other things. I suppose it depends mostly on what I'm feeling so sad about.

Who was your first crush?
Even before I started kindergarten, there was a TV show called Combat. One of the soldiers was played by Rick Jason, and I thought that he was the greatest thing since sliced bread! I actually stole one of my brother's big plastic army men, named it Rick, and took it to bed with me every night. Quite the precocious little one, I was!
I saw Rick Jason on something a while back. It was sad. He got so old...

If given a chance to skip work for a day (without repercussions), how would you spend the entire day?
Actually, I can do that. It's called annual leave. If I take it when I have noreal plans, I usually sleep in, then spend the day vegetating in front of the computer, listening to music.

Dear Microsoft

What the fuck is wrong with you? You are constantly creating new operating systems when you never perfect the ones that you already have. For every good feature that you add, you add three more that make people go fucking crazy. Maybe I'm old and set in my ways, but I was quite comfotable with Windows 2000 and XP. Now I have a new computer that functions like a dream, but this new Vista operating system...
Well, you've changed TOO MUCH!
I'm baffled and befuddled by it.
I won't even go into how much I loathe the new Media player, but at least I can download Winamp...
~ End Of Rant ~

New Computer

Ain't it beautiful?!
Of course I've spent most of my little free time setting it up and getting all of my much needed programs installed. Next I'm gonna have to transfer all of my music files from my other computers. I'm not looking forward to that. It's gonna be very time consuming.

I must be off web surfing. I'm still amazed at the speed of this thing. Going from 312MB of RAM to 3G is a huge leap!

Take This Job And Shove It!

Why do I feel this way?
The reasons are many...

~ The mere sight of my sex discriminating pig of a boss makes me want to punch his lights out.
~ Constantly getting flack about my hours, even though I am salaried and they're not paying me one penny extra for them.
~ Being stuck in that hell hole six days out of seven.
~ My sub just transfered out of our office without telling me first, which makes using my vacation days quite difficult.

And people think that postal work is such a great job.
Yeah, right!
I'd rather be a starving musician...

Manic Monday

Who would you like to see on a new banknote (dollar bill, etc.)?
Hmmmm... You have to be dead for a while before they put your likeness on an American banknote.
But you do not have to have been a president, since Ben Franklin is on a $100 bill.
We need a person of color on one of our bills, I think.
Martin Luther King Jr., would be a good choice.

If you were reincarnated as some other plant or animal, what would it be?
A horse! They're so beautiful and funloving...

If you owned your own restaurant, what would you call it?
Deb's Diner has a nice ring to it...

Road Trip!

The Road Trip of Your Life

You see life as a journey you must take alone. Independence and individuality are primary to you.

You live life at a fairly leisurely pace. You take time to enjoy the sweeter parts of life, even when you're busy.

You are all about risk and randomness in your life. You travel off the beaten path... in fact, you're often the one carving the way!

Eh, work is not really for you. You're all about playtime! You'll work if you have to, but you really don't like it.

In another life, you could have been a great artist. You trust your creative instincts enough to let them lead you.

Tuesday Tunes

Another meme from The Music Memoirs.

A little fun 4th of July style:

Make a mix of at least 10 songs w/or without art that sum up Independence Day for you.

Songs about American people, places, things, ideas, etc. by a mix of artists with musical styles as diverse as the country itself!

The tracklist:

1. American Dream - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
2. Somewhere USA - Gordon Lightfoot
3. American Fool - John Cougar-Mellencamp
4. Amerika - Rammstein
5. An American Girl - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
6. American Idiot - Green Day
7. I Feel Free - Belinda Carlisle
8. Freedom - Michael Schenker Group
9. Surfin' USA - The Beach Boys
10. The Eagle And The Hawk - John Denver

Alas, not all of the artists are Americans, hence the title.
