Goodbye, Old Friend!

Charleroi-Monessen Bridge
This proud structure was the last of its kind. It served the Mon Valley well for over 100 years. Structural problems forced its closing a little over two years ago. Repair was an option to be considered, but Penn DOT instead chose to demolish this historic landmark and build a new bridge. Demolition by implosion is scheduled for 9:00 A.M. on Monday.
