Manic Monday

If you could have a servant come to your house every day for one hour, what would you have them do?
Mop and vacuum all of my floors and wash all of my dishes!

Has your life ever been changed by an apparently random occurrence?
Of course it has. See my archives for January and February of last year. I prefer not to talk about it.

You're having dinner with several friends and acquaintances. They all criticize a close friend of yours (not knowing he/she is a friend). The criticism is unjustified. What would you do?
I'd be pissed, and I'd let them know it in no uncertain terms. I do not take well to people badmouthing someone that I care about.

It's On The Way!

When I ordered it two weeks ago, I feared I would never receive it. The order status was "backorder." Thankfully my fears were unfounded. Yesterday evening, I received an email stating that my $34 brand new Japanese import copy of this CD had shipped!

Such a shame that "The Beast" is in the foreground of the cover photo instead of "Beauty."

A Cry For The Wolves

It has happened. Despite the opposition of tens of thousands of wolf supporters, the Fish & Wildlife Service just made it much easier to kill wolves in the Greater Yellowstone and Northern Rockies region -- even while they remain protected under the Endangered Species Act.

The change to the so-called “10j” rule announced today lowers the bar for killing wolves in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming -- opening the door to the slaughter of hundreds of wolves in the Greater Yellowstone and Northern Rockies region.

The states would only need to prove that wolves are a “major cause” of the inability of elk and deer to meet state management goals. Wolves could be killed even if they only have an effect on how elk herds move or behave -- not just if they reduce herd numbers.

Wildlife officials will be able to shoot, trap and kill endangered wolves -- even those that wander from the safety of Yellowstone National Park and other protected areas.

Remember, these wolves are still protected as an endangered species -- federal officials have yet to decide whether to remove protections under the Endangered Species Act for wolves in the Greater Yellowstone region, but the rule change allows officials to start killing wolves as soon as March.

Tell Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne that this rule change is unacceptable!

Manic Monday

If you had to be named after one of the 50 states, which would it be?
Well, if I wanted a perfectly normal name, I'd pick Virginia.
Me, normal?!
NO WAY!
Just call me Hawaii!

Where do you go for advice?
That would depend on what sort of advice I was needing.
One thing is certain, I don't pay for advice. Family, friends and coworkers are the most reliable and trustworthy people to go to when there are questions that need answers.

What is the sickest you've ever been?
I don't get sick.
Seriously, I can't recall having anything worse than a common cold or the flu.

And if I'd like a slightly different way to play it...

This lovely lamp is just the way to do it.
I call it the wonder lamp. Besides providing light, it is also a clock/radio and an iPod charger and player. What more could I ask for?

This Is Amusing

I went to Ponderosa for dinner one day this past week. Since it has been a bit chilly of late and I am more than a little bit caffeine addicted, my beverage of choice was coffee.

Imagine my surprise when I saw these creamers...

Denny's!
WTF?!

Michael W Schenker?

Given my passion for Michael and my love for playing silly internet games, it's obvious that this little fella just HAD to exist!

Go ahead, click on him and create your own pet.

I am also owner of Rudolf Schenker, but he is not as strong or intelligent as his brother! (LOL)

Do You Love Wolves?

Alaska is the only state in the USA where trophy hunters can gun down wolves from airplanes or chase wolves to exhaustion and then shoot them from the ground.

Alaskans have voted twice to end the state's brutal aerial hunting program, but state officials continue to let it happen by exploiting a loophole in federal law. This year's hunting season has already begun, and hundreds of wolves could be killed yet again.

Wolf opponents in Idaho and Wyoming are eager to follow Alaska's cruel example. Hundreds of wolves could be killed in the Northern Rockies if these states get their way.

Please sign the petition to save America's wolves and end aerial hunting which you can find here

Thanks!
(From me and the wolves!)

Manic Monday

Which sex do you think has it easier in our culture? Have you ever wished you were the opposite sex?
I don't believe that either sex as a whole has it any easier than the other. It all depends on circumstances...
We need to throw out ideas about what a person should be like based upon sex and just let people be themselves!
And, no, I've never felt any particular desire to be a man. To be treated like one, yes, at times...

What books from your childhood would you like to share with your children?
Since my children are 15 and 21 I've already done my sharing. Ah, the joy of Dr. Seuss! Green Eggs And Ham, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish...

What is one talent or skill you don't possess but always wanted?
I've tried to do it many times and failed. I really wish that I could skate!

Stupid People Shouldn't Breathe

Quoth a stupid 17 year old Norwegian dude (to me):
"Your charts need more Maiden, old man! 200 scrobbles isn't satisfying!"

Just because I use this as my avatar on Last FM, he assumes it is me...

Never minding the fact that my profile distinctly lists my gender as female!!

And Rudolf...
Michael...
This guy called you old men. Are you gonna take that from him?!

Punch his lights out, I say!

Just found out that our sweet little Itchy probably has cancer...

She is still behaving like a happy healthy kitty, so I'm praying that the vet is wrong.

What was the last thing you regret buying?
This album is fantastic, but I really regret buying it...

Heavy Hitters - Michael Schenker Group

At the time that I bought it, I didn't know that it was made from tapes that Michael's ex stole from him. It was supposed to be the third Endless Jam...
Had I known that at the time, I never would have bought it. I don't like the fact that I gave money (however little) to one of his nasty exes.
I would have (illegally) downloaded it had I known.

If you had a crystal ball that could tell you the truth about any one thing you wished to know about yourself, life, the future or anything else, what would you want to know?
It's a long complicated story, but I'd really like to find out what happened in the very first hours of 1990. Blackouts are a bitch!

How do you know when you're in love?
"Is it lust? Is it love? Whatever it is, I can't get enough..."
Seriously, I don't think that I know. Maybe that's why my relationships tend to end in disaster!

I Can't Believe That They Did This

I got my weekly email from Direct TV regarding upcoming pay per view movies and events. As I browsed the listings, I was totally disgusted to see this movie...

The Killing of John Lennon

Jonas Ball plays Mark Chapman in this movie based on the diary of the man who was "nobody until I killed the biggest somebody on earth."

The idea that ANYONE would even dream of making a movie about the stinking bastard who shot John Lennon makes me feel ill.
The thought that people will actually pay to watch this crap makes me sicker still...

That miserable S.O.B. is gonna make money on this, has made money on this...
It's like John is handing him money from the great beyond...

I hope that the next thing that he gets from the great beyond is a little bit of "instant karma!"

What's In A Name?

What SheSchenker Means

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.
You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.
You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out.
Success comes rather easily for you... especially in business and academia.
Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You're a strong person.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are very open. You communicate well, and you connect with other people easily.
You are a naturally creative person. Ideas just flow from your mind.
A true chameleon, you are many things at different points in your life. You are very adaptable.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are a seeker of knowledge, and you have learned many things in your life.
You are also a keeper of knowledge - meaning you don't spill secrets or spread gossip.
People sometimes think you're snobby or aloof, but you're just too deep in thought to pay attention to them.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.
You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.
You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

And I thought that I only chose this name because I'm crazy about Michael Schenker...

First Post Of 2008

After my dreadful start to last year, I was quite pleased to be back to my traditional New Year's Day routine this year.
What is that, exactly?
Breakfast buffet at Eat N Park (courtesy of my postal customers) followed by the annual clean up of my personal photos. All photos taken by my digital cameras in 2007 have been transfered to disc and deleted from my hard drive.
Woot! That freed up a little over 1G of space, which will (of course) be filled with music shortly.

Photos taken by my phone were exempt from deletion. The files are much smaller...

It ain't over 'til the snowman rides off on his Harley!
