Tuesday Tunes

A weekly musical meme from The Music Memoirs

Use a photo from your collection of something that involves your summer. Then tell us what music figured in the most on your summer playlist this year.

The overpriced hotel where we stayed in Erie, PA this summer

Musically, vacations always send me into Schenker withdrawl, made worse this particular vacation because my iPod headphones went missing.

For the most part, this summer has been all about Michael Schenker's newest album, In The Midst Of Beauty.
Oh, and all of the Axel Rudi Pell I can get my grubby little paws on...

Random Ten

Brought to you by The Music Memoirs.

10 songs that sum up your weekend...or were on your weekend playlist...and one picture that relates back.
(oh, and if you feel like it, tell us why you picked the songs you did)

You know the routine, I put the WinAmp on shuffle and see what madness ensues!

1. Revelation - Helloween
2. If - The Cult
3. Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love - Van Halen
4. Unchain The Thunder - Axel Rudi Pell
5. Dandy - Herman's Hermits
6. Supernatural Superserious - R.E. M.
7. We Were Born To Fly - Scorpions
8. Janie's Got A Gun - Aerosmith
9. Hit Between The Eyes - Scorpions
10. Refugee - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

Yeah, it's my typical weird mix.
That's why I only put the Win Amp on shuffle on Sunday. I couldn't handle it more often than that!

But what you really want to see this week is the picture...

It's Miss Callie and her kittens, just born last night. Aren't they adorable?

Top 5 On Friday

A musical meme brought to you by The Music Memoirs.

Top 5 Bands That You Wish You Could See Live

1. Michael Schenker Group
2. Scorpions
3. Axel Rudi Pell
4. Poison
5. George Harrison

It's hard to believe that I've never seen any of the first five artists live, but I haven't.
As for George, well, if I COULD see him live, that would mean that he was still alive, and I wish with all of my heart that he was.

Do You Support Fair Pay For Women?

On Tuesday night, at approximately 9:00 p.m. Eastern, Lilly Ledbetter is scheduled to speak at the Democratic National Convention.

In 2007, the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that Lilly, who was paid less than her male co-workers for nearly two decades, wasn't entitled to sue for pay discrimination. The Supreme Court's decision was a major setback for equal rights. But Congress can correct the Supreme Court's wrong by passing the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.

Join me in the movement for fair pay for women. Watch Lilly's appearance at the conventionand write to your Senators urging them to support the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act here.

Manic Monday

Is there something you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven’t you done it?
Big surprise, I've always waned to go to Germany.
Why haven't I gone?
Not enough money.

If you could make any fictional character come to life, which one would it be?
Treize Khushrenada from the animé Gundam Wing.

Mmmmm... Sexy and powerful! Who wouldn't want to see a real life version of him?

If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be and how long would it take you to spend the $10,000?
I'm going to The Guitar Center!
It won't take long to spend that money. Gibson guitars are quite pricey...

Name three things you wanted as a child but never got.
1. A horse
No big surprise that I never got it. We lived inside the city limits.

2. A trip to Disneyland
There was no Disneyworld when I was a kid.

3. A baby brother
I got a sister instead...

(oh, and if you feel like it, tell us why you picked the songs you did)

You know the routine, I put the WinAmp on shuffle and see what madness ensues!

1. Magic Man - Heart
2. The Turkey song - The Damned
3. Hysteria - Def Leppard
4. The Six Teens - Sweet
5. Hanging On The Telephone - Def Leppard
6. Waiting For A Girl Like You - Foreigner
7. Fly To The Angels - Slaughter
8. Electric Phase - UFO
9. Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good - Megadeth
10. 10 Light Years Away - Scorpions

It just keeps getting weirder every week!
This is why I seldom put my Win Amp on shuffle.

And now for the picture...

This was waiting in my inbox for me this morning.
You would think that would've made for a really good day.

Making An Impact

You Are Impact

You are very unique and quite striking. You are forceful and aggressive.
You never go unnoticed, and people recognize your power instantly.

While you make your presence known, your message is a bit fuzzy.
You are not the easiest person to understand, and you're not one for details.

The Tea Quiz

You Are Black Tea

You have a bold personality. You're not afraid of simply being yourself.
You have the courage to speak the truth. You are fearless in your actions.

You come off as a bit intimidating and unapproachable. Only confident people are attracted to you.
You don't try to scare off anyone. You're just an intense person!

The Wolves Need Your Help!

Alaska’s wolf slaughter is out of control. This year alone, 124 Alaskan wolves were gunned down from the skies. Nearly 800 wolves have been killed by aerial hunters in the last five years. Just this summer, 28 wolves were executed near their dens, including 14 defenseless wolf pups illegally killed by Alaska state officials.

On August 26th, Alaskans will head to the polls in an attempt to ban the awful practice of aerial hunting before another deadly season begins. If you live in Alaska, please cast your vote for the wolves.

Manic Monday

How would your friend describe you to someone who has never seen you?
Since you say that my friend is describing me to someone who has never "seen" me, I'll assume that my friend is giving a physical description...

"She's short with dark hair and darker eyes. 40ish and a bit top heavy."

Someone who didn't like me might use slightly less flattering terms.

Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why?
The only person that I trust to protect me is ME!
Quite frankly, I don't need or want anyone else to do so.
I can take care of myself, thank you very much!

If you died or went missing, who would miss you?
Obvously, my friends and family would miss me. Also my pets. And my postal customers. Some of them freak out when I take a day off!

Interesting Blogthing

You Are Extremely Sexually Powerful

Your sexual power is obvious - you don't do anything to hide your sexuality.
In fact, if there's such a thing as a person with too much sexual power, it's you.

Your life and thoughts are dominated by sex. And while it's good to be sexually liberated, you're starting to have a one track mind.
You don't always have to use your sexual power. There's more to human interaction than getting naked!

Another meme from The Music Memoirs

What have you been listening to the most lately? and why? (It can be a genre, an album, a band)

Axel Rudi Pell
Maybe it's because I just have a thing for German guitarists, but I don't think so.

No matter, he's my latest Wild Obsession!

Using no more than 10 nouns, and ONLY nouns, describe yourself.
Woman, Mom, musician, writer, dreamer, rebel

If you owned your own store, what would you sell?
GUITARS!!!!
I could get my paws on all sorts of beautiful new and different ones this way. Oooooo! What fun!

If you were to name the most comforting thing for you to hold in your hands, what would it be?

Unrealistically, this...

Realistically, this...

There is great comfort in playing random minor chords.

And now for the picture...

Axel Rudi Pell
It seems that I'm gonna be receiving two more of his CDs, direct from Berlin via registered mail in about a week.
Oh, and to make it even better, I don't have to pay for them. They're a gift from a wonderful friend!

Top 5 On Friday

A meme from The Music Memoirs

Top 5 Songs You Wish You Wrote

Lyrics are my specialty when it comes to writing music, so this is all about lyrics (or lack thereof).

1. This Time - Scorpions
This was Matthias Jabs' first attempt at writing music and lyrics. The music is great, but the lyrics are a bit pathetic. I wish that I had written them so that they'd be a bit better.

2. My Time's Up - Michael Schenker Group
I just love the snarkiness of these lyrics, enough to wish that I had written them.

3. Let It Be - The Beatles
If I had written the lyrics to this one, I could clear up all speculation about "Mother Mary" once and for all!

4. Forever Angel - Axel Rudi Pell
Just because I love this particular song!

5. TY 4...#1 - Michael Schenker
Acually, I wish that I had written any of the acoustic instrumentals on Michael's Thank You....4 album, simply so that they'd have titles instead of numbers.
